Change through Meditation

Our thoughts are very powerful and can either work for us or against us. Depending on the discipline of one’s mind, it can either be a wonderful asset or become a dangerous assault weapon. Unfortunately, most minds are not very disciplined, causing the person to have an uncontrolled thought process. This leads to the person having different responses to each scenario that occurs throughout their life. Similar to the fight or flight response. For some people it’s a matter of “going with the flow” of any changes happening in life, where others avoid the changes and are continuously stuck in life repeating the same patterns over and over again.

As we all know, life is always changing and with each change there’s a chance of feeling a relief or an onset of pain. This will be different for each individual person causing their own unique response.

Whether conscious or subconscious, it’s these unknown responses that can create fear for many people, preventing them to move forward in their lives, especially when they are faced with these changes that occur in life.

This is one place meditation can play an amazing factor in one’s life. Meditation teaches us discipline, how to observe without judgement and in doing so, provides us with the understanding of truth and how to stay present in one particular moment, to just simply be.

Having feelings of fear or being judgmental can lead a person towards anxiety and other health issues. These are some of the main reasons that doctors and specialist today are recommending meditation practice to their patients all over the world. They know that a steady meditation practice will help their patients by relieving stress and creating many other health benefits such as:

  • Better sleep
  • Increased energy
  • Lower stress levels
  • Clearer mind and focus
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increased concentration
  • Less frustration
  • Lower anxiety
  • Improved thought process
  • Much more

Meditation does take practice and time to master the skill fully but any amount will be beneficial to the person practicing it. The rewards should be motivational enough to at least begin.

You can make meditation your first step towards a healthier lifestyle and use it to help yourself move forward through those changes in life. You can do it! So, get started. Simply embrace the meditation practice and begin to grow within.
