Stimulants and Exercise

When a person is stimulated, the levels of a chemical called dopamine, rises in their body causing alertness, calmness and other sensations. These changes are only temporary and as it wears off, the body tends to want the feeling or sensation back. As the levels decrease, the body sometimes goes into a craving point for the stimulant. This is probably one main reason why people become addicted to the stimulants so easily. 

There are many different types of stimulants for the human body. Some which are good and others that are unhealthy. A stimulant is anything that can cause a temporary increase in the levels of physiological or nervous activity in the body. 

Drugs, Caffeine, Alcohol, and Nicotine are all examples of a stimulant for the body, but are not very healthy. Another is exercise, which can be forgotten about as a stimulant. It is good for the body yet, if taken to extreme usage or done incorrectly, exercise can become harmful and create unhealthy issue for the body as well. 

When done properly, using a stimulant like exercising, can greatly boost a person’s health and provide wonderful benefits. Exercising regularly increases and improves the functions of the heart, lungs, circulatory system and more. 

The stimulant side of exercise creates better focus, memory, and mood, to name a few. Most people find it uplifting and rewarding, causing them to become happy, lose weight, and feel healthier overall. These good types of stimulants are needed to improve our health. Like helping lower depression by increasing endorphins and build one’s confidence and mental wellness. 

Starting a regular routine of exercise is a good idea and can be done at any time. However, it is always recommended to consult with your doctor before beginning any exercise program. But once cleared, you have many options and types of exercise to choose from.

  • Drumming
  • Weight lifting 
  • Running
  • Gym workouts 
  • Meditation 
  • Qigong
  • Tai Chi 
  • Yoga 

All of which have classes available with trainers, instructors or teachers, to help you become better and healthier. All you have to do is find one near you or look online.
